General Meetings
Under the provisions of IAPA’s constitutional documentation, supreme authority for the governance of IAPA rests with the membership.

The Annual General Meeting of members elects directors to serve on the International Board and, from these appointed individuals, elects a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Finance Director.  The AGM agrees financial statements/budgets and approves strategic direction and policy proposals put forward by the International Board. The AGM meets in a different location every year in conjunction with the International Conference.

Extraordinary General Meetings are held as required.

International Board and Committees
The International Board comprises up to 9 elected individuals.

The Board is responsible for monitoring the implementation of agreed work programmes, for ensuring that all activities are carried out within budget, and for developing strategic proposals for approval by the membership.

The International Board has the following reporting committees:

  • Executive Committee:
    The Executive Committee meets in between bi-annual meetings of the International Board to give preliminary consideration to matters coming before the Board.  It is also responsible for day to day decisions in pursuit of IAPA’s objectives. The Executive Committee comprises the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Finance Director, supported by the CEO.
  • Membership Committee:
    The Membership Committee is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the quality of IAPA.

Regional Boards
Regional Boards within Europe and the Americas have delegated responsibility within their respective regions for membership recruitment, membership activities and promotional work.

National Accounting Groups
Subject to broad guidelines set by the International Board, IAPA’s National Accounting Groups in Australia, Canada and Germany have considerable autonomy within the global structure and have particular responsibility for membership recruitment.

Chief Executive Officer
IAPA’s Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the management and day to day running of IAPA’s affairs.

The CEO and other support staff are based at IAPA’s offices in the United Kingdom.
